If you have excessive sweating from your armpits, then you are suffering from a condition known as hyperhidrosis. Actually speaking, excessive sweating can occur anywhere on the body, but the armpits are always the hardest hit. Most people who have excessive perspiration will sweat mainly through their underarms. The number of people who want to learn how to prevent body odor is quite huge, because this condition affects one in every hundred of us. If you are researching on ways to stop body odor too, here are some methods that you must know.

1. Use a good quality antiperspirant. It is a good idea to seek medical advice on which one to use. Antiperspirants contain aluminum chloride in a small quantity. This chemical has a direct effect on stopping sweating from unwarranted regions of the body.

2. If your sweating is really excessive, then an antiperspirant won't be too effective. In that case, you can use a more concentrated solution of aluminum chloride. A 15% solution is used for a week to provide benefits in stopping underarm sweating. Generally, this solution must be used before retiring for the night because that is when they will be the most effective. The solution has to be topically applied over the armpits.

3. Drink lots of water in the daytime. You must frequently keep on sipping water throughout the day. This will help keep your body cool. When your body is cool, the possibility of sweating is much lesser.

4. There are injections that can help this condition of excessive sweating. These injections are of a substance known as Botulinum Toxin, shortened as Botox. They have an effect for about three to six months at keeping the underarms from sweating excessively. After that period of time, you will need another injection. However, most people do not prefer this technique because the injections are painful and the area where the injection was applied keeps on paining for several days afterward.

5. Keep the armpits always shaved. Though this will not stop the sweating itself, it will stop the odor. Sweat can remain in armpit hair breeding bacteria that are responsible for the bad odor. By shaving the armpits, you can reduce this condition.

6. Wearing loose clothes that do not hug you at the armpits helps. This is because these clothes can allow good air circulation in the area that allows for evaporation of the sweat. As far as possible, use cotton clothing.
